Alex Mwangi is a Forensic Manger in KPMG with thirteen (13) years of information systems (IS) experience, of which he has four (4) years experience in IT Audits, IT security risk, development of IT Strategy, IT security policies and procedures in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Algeria and Southern Sudan.
In addition, Alex has three (3) years experience in developing, implementing and supporting a variety of information systems and four (4) years experience in networks and Firewalls Security administration, providing guidance and support on network security practices.
Alex heads the KPMG East Africa Forensic Technology Services (FTECH) team which provides technical investigative support and evidence-collection for numerous Forensic investigations which help clients to find, preserve and recover digital evidence in a legally defendable manner for the purpose of launching or defending against lawsuits or to support administrative actions.
Alex is also responsible for Forensic Data Analysis Services to assist clients in meeting the requirements of a cyber investigation by expeditiously mining relationships and anomalies in businesses records to uncover processing inefficiencies, biases in data, errors, and fraudulent activity.
Alex has been responsible for managing numerous forensic investigations into possible fraud and misconduct for clients in diverse organizations, private, public and not for profit in East Africa.
Alex has made presentations to participants from diverse organisations in East Africa on how the indicators of fraud and misconduct, both actual and potential, that reside within an organization’s financial, operational and transactional data can be identified using data analysis tools and techniques.
