Wayne Wei Wang is a Non-Resident Fellow at FGV Rio Law School in Brazil and an out-going Ph.D. Candidate in Law and Technology at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). With a background in both Engineering and Law, Wayne’s research focuses on Intellectual Property, Data Protection, Algorithmic Governance, and Science and Technology Studies, emphasizing the intersections of Law, Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship in the Global South/Majority. Wayne has held academic affiliations with institutions across China, the USA, the UK, Germany, Poland, and Singapore.

Before pursuing his Ph.D., he earned an LLM in Intellectual Property, awarded with a Dean’s Scholarship jointly from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia. He also holds a Double Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Law, as well as an MPhil from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China, where he received the China National Scholarship and the University Outstanding Graduate Award.
